Carpentry and Painting touchups

Quite long nver update. but these past one week have been a week to do touch ups and such tat.

Carpentry is needs to touch up.our wardrobe needs alot of touching up.not tat good.
the rest of the carpentry also hav to touch up. like feature wall and tv console.

Painting also hav to touch up on a few walls due to specks of paints on some walls tat can be seen clearly. Our kitchen wall (after hacking) is also rough or not smoothen properly b4 painting, so hav to redo.

I was at the house today alone and the painter came in. looks like a foreigner like thai/myanmese but speaks good english.

I was able to communicate with him and told him all the areas tat need to touch up.

I also learn something abt painting during this renovation.

From there i gather is, some touchups they will use paint brush and the effect is different from using a roller brush to paint. So best is use small rollers so tat ur wall will not have the look of being touchups. can tell them to use masking tape to protect so tat they can use small rollers. corners they will hav to use paint brush to touch up.

If you have rough surface or broken surface, you will need to use those white material to fill up, smoothen with their metal spade and then repaint over . preferably with roller if your wall hav being done up with roller brush. Rough surface often happen when hacking is involved on your wall, the areas are often not smoothen up as well as you would like and these can be seen at night under lightings (esp orange lights). So go at night to see ur reno paintworks and turn on all ur lights!

Dark colour paints have difficulty of touching up without being seen. so most prob hav to redo the whole wall if you need to. Lighter color paints are easier to touch up.

Carpentry almost finished

Yupe, i went up again tonight to see if the carpentry is finished as Mike's colleague, Shawn, told us it will be done by today.
went up and met a couple, who told us they would like to see our flat as they also considering Mike. So let them in to see see. They hav bought a flat at Aspellas (dunno how to spell) just next to us across the road. Anyway, Mike came in later too. Turn out he's bringing them to his projects at Coris. Anyway, we didn't mind.
ok, Carpentry mostly are up, except some loose parts not done up yet. the place is still messy and i think carpentry will continue tom. Glass and solid tops will be done up b4 Sat. By then, 2nd painting will also be done.
Here are some pictures.

Night shift

Just back from Coris after dinner. Saw the two carpenters doing their work at night. I was surprise to see them working at night... was expecting the house to be empty when i arrive at abt 8pm after having dinner with my Dear at the new coffeeshop at B266. I thought they will only work day time only....hmmm. Nice of them i feel.

Now is keeping my fingers crossed tat all can be up by early Feb. Else all the workers go home for CNY, i will be stucked with a half renovated home for CNY.....

Saw my kitchen cabinets up. The designs are nice i feel. Thanks to Mike. We reduced our kitchen size by 1/3 and we tot there will be little space to move. But then the kitchen still look cute and compact for us and did not look cramp. In fact i and Dear feel its jus nice for us, and there are space, as ultimately we will rarely cook.

The feature wall is also up, but not fully yet. But can see that it is quite an interesting design....tks to Mike too again...keke. Our wardrobe is also up! Its white with some glass and looks good to me.... better than the drawing Baroque gave me i feel...haha.

Ok, no pics. i brought my camera up, but as they are still doing half way...dun feel its nice to take pictures....all half half....but the structure are there, jus tat eveerything still in a construction stage.

The 2 carpenters seems polite too at first impression.

Hope for the best. Will be back.

False Ceiling and L-Box

Our false ceiling and L-box is up. :)But becos of Coris pillar structure, our aircon cannot be placed lower without incurring more aircon trunking tat cannot be covered up, hence hitting the L-box. A opening has to be created too. i reckon its used to allow servicing to be done as it needs to be open in upwards direction. Our HSS opening is boxed up too. Only a small hole is opened up.

Aircon!

Ok, we decided to choose Toshiba as i heard good reviews from Larry and from Renotalk and also Eddie from LongHeng Aircon.

After much dilemmna, we decided to choose System 4 Inverter. A system 3+1 non inverter will cost abt 3000+. Adding about 800+, we got a Inverter which is suppose to reduce electricity bills in the long run. Whether it will happen, we wont' noe. At least i noe we will be adding lesser to our electrical bills whenever i on the aircon!

Renovation Starts

Started this blog late, but nver late than never!

Ok, renovation has gone on abt 30%. To date, we have given Mike abt 60% of the renovation fees.

here are some renovation pics.

The reno materials started piling up.

We hacked the kitchen walls. Two walls. There will be a glass door there.

Electrical works. Wiring starts.

We went Adamas to buy our Kitchen tap and Sink. We also chosen Cuizino as our hod and hood there. Got them total at SGD$920 Abt $600 for Hod and Hood Cuizino P8.3VCGB & NC298X

A New Beginning

Hi, welcome to my home blog!

Ya, my new home is at Coris Sengkang and me and my gf bought it during the WIS back abt a yr ago. Now it is ready and after searching for IDs , we decided to choose Mike from Baroque. Cos of good feedback from Renotalk. In my mind is i wanted a fussfree renovation and someone reliable and with some good sense of design. Their official website is at: http://www.baroquedesign.com.sg/

We also went Gplan but was not impress with the ID that served us. A&D did not reply to us even though i send in my request for a quote. Intradesign Angeline replied us but it was 2+ weeks later when i already sign up with Baroque.

Okie. my home is now undergoing renovation and almost 1/4 way through.

here are some pics of Coris and my floor plan.

I like the Coris quite a bit bcos of the way it looks. It has a condo-like look and not at all like a HDB built block. It is also a point block where theres only 4 homes on every floor.

The Buangkok MRT is just 5-8 mins walk away from Coris which is also a major factor. I hate having to take LRT, although i do drive. But dun like the idea of LRT which dun stop near your place(most likely hav to walk a distance).

The views outside my window. I am facing the small garden area. Not very spectacular but i prefer watching different ppl walking through the gardens.
